N.D.S.O.C 40th Anniversary Dinner

The history of Nissan in motorsport stems back to 1936 when a Datsun Midget took the checkered flag at the Japan Motor Vehicle Competition at Tamagawa Speedway. Since then the company has tasted success in everything from touring cars to rallying to open wheelers to prototype sports sedans. This success and passion led to the beginnings of what is now the Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club.

The history of the NDSOC goes back to February 22nd, 1968 when the 2000 Sports was the car of the time, and the 240Z was still drawings on a piece of paper. The club (then known as the Datsun Sports Car Club ) was founded by enthusiasts interested in the sports, and was initially guided by Peter Eddy.

After much consideration, in 1989 the club changed it’s name to the Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club, thereby keeping in line with Nissan’s corporate policy whilst still acknowledging the history of Datsun.

The passion of the members certainly has not changed from the initial stages of the club, which can be seen by the variety of vehicles owned and kept by their owners. From these humble beginnings we can now boast over 270 members and a vehicle database of more than 290 cars.

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club first meeting, we will be hosting a formal dinner at Sandown Racecourse. There will be limited edition gifts to all attendees.
